Abstract
The article considers the concept of labor in the framework of ensuring social justice. The essence and significance of labor in a historical context is revealed. It is shown how the attitude towards labor activity in the process of the formation of society has changed. The theories of the classics of political economy were analyzed, as well as the opinions of philosophers and modern scholars. The place of labor as one of the types of activity and approaches to determining its essence have been studied.
