FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT FOR PERSONS AS ONE OF THE FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS OF CITIZENS OF THE EUROPEAN UNION

Abstract
The article analyzes the moment of birth and further development of freedom of free movement within the European Union. The author analyzes the reasons that influenced the development of freedom of movement of persons, and points out that such freedom is a fundamental principle of European Union law and one of the foundations of the functioning of the free internal market. In the article the author also drew attention to the problem faced by the European community in the process of exercising this freedom. In addition, the article identifies the distinction between European and national interpretations of the concept of «freedom of movement», and states that Ukrainian legislation does not currently meet European standards and therefore needs to be changed in relation to European integration.
