Abstract

In this article the author analyses the standards of the criminal-executive legislation regulating a registration of persons who commit crimes against minors. The article deals with registry of sex offenders with previous convictions of sex crimes against small children like a form of post-penal control. Megan's Law is the name for a federal law, and informal name for subsequent state laws, in the United States requiring law enforcement authorities to make information available to the public regarding registered sex offenders. The provision of Megan's Law was developed to alert the public, specifically members of the local community, that they are living in the presence of a dangerous sex offender. It is very important to protect the security of children — potential victims using the sex offender registration and community notification.
