Abstract
It is important for every organisation to deal with global economy. In today's competitive business world, organisations are interested in intangible assets and human capital to gain advantage over competitors. The demographic environment of the workforce, presents several challenges to organisations. As it is known, diversity is the differences in understanding the characteristics of different people. In an organisation it is unlikely that all the employees will hold similar work values. This is where diversity management comes into the picture. “Diversity management includes acceptance and respect, acknowledging that individuals are unique and different from each other”. This report discusses diversity as an issue in workplaces, diversity management as an important intervention, its advantages and disadvantages and Importance.
