Abstract
The purpose of the article is to cover the general trends in publishing monographs by various Ukrainian and foreign publishers. The main focus is on the publishing activity of the representatives of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, which is being held under the auspices of the Scientific Publishing Council of the NAS of Ukraine for 20 years of its activity. The novelty of the study is that the topic in this formulation of the question is covered for the first time. The research methodology is based on the principles of historicism, using chronological, comparative, statistical methods, as well as methods of classification and systematization of the material. The object of the study is the dynamic of monographic publications of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in 1991–2019. Conclusions. The main trends in the field of publishing of monographic editions by researchers of the National Academy of Sciences show a steady decline in published works over the past decade and a significant reduction in the role of professional scientific publishing houses in the publishing process as a result of chronic underfunding of science in Ukraine. Publishers of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine have maintained and put into practice high standards of scientific book publishing in the process of implementing publishing projects initiated by the Scientific Publishing Council of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The analysis of the publishing activity of the representatives of different branches in certain time intervals revealed the stability of the shares of the branches in the total number of monographic publications, which testifies to the viability of the historically formed structure of fundamental research.
