EVALUATION OF QUALITY OF SUTLEJ RIVER SURFACE WATER NEAR TATTAPANI, HIMACHAL PRADESH

Water is universal and natural solvent required by every living species. We have various sources of water like ground water, surface water, river water which comes through the melting glaciers and ice caps. Current study of Sutlej river focus on evaluating the quality of surface water. Various physico chemical parameters is adopted to check it's quality. The study reveal that Sutlej river water start deteriorate because of tourist and holy place. Quality of surface water is getting depleted as devotees put ashes or pooja stuff into the river and by discharge of drainage without any treatment. It also effect ground water quality, which directly or indirectly effect human health
