Abstract
The gut microbiota is an integral part of every individual. It is characterized by a complex hierarchical structure, various interspecific relationships. The intestinal microflora performs a number of vital functions, ensuring the body's homeostasis. Analysis of the cited works showed that changes in the quantitative and species composition of the microbiota can lead to the emergence of various pathological conditions (inflammatory bowel diseases, atherosclerosis, metabolic syndrome, obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus).
