Abstract
The article highlights and systematizes the main scientific approaches to the problem of combining economic efficiency and social justice in the formation of income distribution policy. On the basis of the marginalist principle of Pareto-optimality, a comparative analysis of the main concepts for understanding equity in the distribution of income, namely: egalitarian, utilitarian, rawlsian and market, is carried out. Trends in the distribution of income by regions of the world are considered. The analysis of the possibilities of applying the main scientific approaches in modern conditions in the framework of a combination of economic efficiency and social orientation of income distribution
