Abstract

Venous thrombosis (VT) is a common complication of malignant neoplasms or their treatment in children. The occurrence of VT in a child with malignant neoplasm increases the duration of treatment, increases its cost, and also negatively affects the timing of programmed treatment, survival and worsens the quality of life of patients. Purpose of the study: to study a group of patients of the Regional Oncohematological Center for Children and Adolescents, Professor V.I. Gerain State Budgetary Healthcare Institution CHODKB with VT, determination of risk factors, prognostic value and incidence of venous thrombosis. Materials and methods: in the period from January 2015 to September 2020, retrospectively, on the basis of medical documentation, 22 patients with diagnosed VT were identified. Results and discussion. For the period from 01.01.2015 to 01.09.2020, the number of patients of the regional oncohematological center, in whom venous thrombosis was detected, was 22, including 12 girls, 10 boys. The age structure of patients was distributed as follows: the maximum age of detection of thrombosis is 17 years, the minimum is 3 months. Complication in the form of VT was revealed in the following nosologies: hemoblastosis – 8 (36.5%), solid tumors – 12 (54.5%), other specified bleeding disorders in 2 patients, which amounted to 9%. In 15 (68%) patients, the formation of venous thrombosis is associated with the presence of a central venous implantable central catheter (CVC), in 5 (23%) patients thrombotic masses of tumor origin were found, in another 2 (9%) patients the occurrence of VT is associated with coagulation disorders blood. Conclusion. As a result of the study, it was found that for the period from January 2015 to September 2020, 22 cases of venous thrombosis were detected. This complication developed slightly more often in girls than in boys, and the average age of its development was 10 years. The reasons for its development in 68% of cases was the operation of a central implantable venous catheter; other etiological factors include occlusion of the vessel by tumor masses and blood clotting disorders. The most common nosology in which VT occurred is hemoblastosis, while thrombosis associated with CVC was localized in the projection of the place of its placement.
