Abstract
Nowadays, data mining has been applied to the educational field as a path for problem solving such as school dropout. There are different investigations that highlight the importance of the processing of large amounts of data to predi ct and prevent the desertion of students by the implications that this brings at the social and economic level. This study analyzes some key concepts and literature available on data mining and school dropout showing the current state of these thematic, specifically in the IEEE XPLORE Digital Library online database which is a collection of highly recognized research at a global level.
