Effects of Information Technology Job stress: An Application in the Turkish Banking Sector

Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine the effect of information technologies on the work stress by measuring, on various dimensions, the stress of the workers using such technologies. The study was conducted based on a work group of organization work stress questionaire ?D (VOS-D) and applied to 432 persons working in Turkish banking sectors. The effect was measured in the following twelfe dimensions: Excessive work loud, the uncertainty of the responsibility, responsibility, duty conflict, the inability to leave the work place, the inability to join decision-making, the failure of believing the necessity and meaning of the work, the uncertainty of the future, the shortage of work quality, anxiety about work, health problems and psychological complaints. Between the dimension such as excessive work loud, the failure of believing the necessity and meaning of the work, the shortage of work quality, health problems, psychological complaints a statistically significant and possitive correlation was found, wheras there was a significant but a negative correlation between the duration of daily computer use and uncertainty of the future. No significant corelation was found between the duration of computer use and the other dimensions.
