The Effect of Letter Reform on Accounting Education and Applications in Turkey

In this study, that aims to investigate the relationship between Letters Reform and accounting education, firstly Pre-Republic Period have been analysed. Subsequently, explanation related to Letter Reform occured Republic Period have been given. And also the possibilities of using double entry accounting system in application and education, that increase with the start of using Roman Alphabeth have been emphasized. The contribution of Turkish Language Council’s established after Letter Reform to Turkish science world have been mentioned and the absence of study made by this council about accounting terms was emphasized. Because of the accounting’s international dimension, a working group that include Turkish Language Council must determine how foreign terms will be accepted.
