Survey of Routing Protocols for Wireless Multimedia Sensor Network

The advent of the multimedia devices and applications had been a breakthrough in the human history. The ever growing desire of a human being to have a technology which is ubiquitous has lead to amalgamation of multimedia technology with wireless sensor networking technology. And so is the researchers’ interest. With the obvious benefits of delivering the multimedia content remotely, the challenges are equally weighing. The foremost being the multimedia content being heavy in data size where as the wireless sensor networks are restrained by their power, processing, less complex routing protocols and minimum content size to be delivered. This paper discusses the challenges and restraints in design of routing protocols for wireless multimedia sensor networks and their suitability and limitations.
