Abstract
“Design and development of an automatic standing wheelchair” is a fully mechanized based standing wheelchair. It is an inevitable project for people with disabilities or having trouble standing up. The present-day market consists of a large number of assistive devices for standing purposes, which are expensive and designed to satisfy the need of a specific user. This drives standing wheelchair far away from the needy. To manufacture an affordable assistive device for standing, we aim to ensure that the Automatic standing wheelchair is suitable for users with different physical characteristics. The automatic standing wheelchair has the capability to make a user stand by providing adequate support. The device has a sitting position and a standing position both are controlled using a handheld remote which in turn controls an actuator that helps for the lift. The device is a successful rehabilitation program that encourages an active lifestyle for people having a disability to stand, thereby establishing a link between physical activities and quality of life.
