The concept of intercultural competence: essence and content

Abstract
The article describes the theoretical background of study the essence and content of "intercultural competence". Structural components have been considered as the basis for acquiring intercultural competence in the system of competence approach. The main factors that determine importance of the development of intercultural competence and ways of its formation have been outlined, as in the era of global shifts, there is a need for a person with a new type of thinking, able not only to use, but to successfully realize their creative potential. Deepening Ukraine's strategic partnership with NATO, expanding and developing international contacts, integrating processes, reforming processes, innovating, European and global vector of Ukraine's foreign policy activity lead to an interest in deepening intercultural, scientific and practical, and military interaction. All this motivates to develop and teach students (cadets) the basics of intercultural communication, to form the skills of intercultural communication, the ability and willingness to participate productively in this process. The purpose of the article is to reveal the essence of intercultural competence and possible ways of its formation in the future masters of military-social management. Тheoretical methods of research: analysis, synthesis, comparison, generalization, systematization of the received information, interpretation of results. It has been established that the application of the competence approach can be a methodological basis for the study of intercultural competence. The results of the theoretical analysis have indicated that intercultural competence is one of the important components of the professional competence of the future master of military management. Тhere are no studies in the scientific literature on the ways of developing the intercultural competence of future masters of military management. Thus, a promising direction for further research on the formation and development of intercultural competence is the theoretical substantiation and experimental verification of pedagogical conditions for the development of intercultural competence of future masters of military management.
