It is established that senior learners acquire a good level of language competence, have a definite speech experience, gain the skills of communication and can work in groups. By creative thinking the authors understand the non-standard way of thinking, which activates the creative abilities of a senior learner, the ability to produce new ideas and create new products. It is stressed in the article that the authors believe that interactive techniques may be effective for the development of the creative thinking skills because by interacting with each other in pairs, groups or teams, students do not only improve the level of language, but also develop the skills of interpersonal and group communication in real life situations, learn to solve pedagogical problems creatively and prepare for future interaction with potential secondary school learners. The article features the results of the Ukrainian and foreign authors' English textbooks, recommended by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
