Abstract

Modern society living conditions require competetive professionals in the labor market. Constant development of professional staff provokes the so-called phenomenon in the European environment as a "lifelong learning". There are new approaches to understanding the content and form of education, which must meet the age characteristics of those who acquire a competence. Knowledge of a foreign language is a prerequisite for the effective functioning in a modern market of economic relations. The requirement of foreign language competence has become an integral component of training. Adults who were previously successful in careers without this skill, have faced with the need to fill this gap in the context of professional development. Adult education requires an approach that is different from education in primary and secondary schools, taking into account changing conditions and psychological characteristics of adults. Motivation of an adult student, who is emotionally mature requires new approaches to learning, and methods of interaction in particular. The aim of our article is to characterize the process of adult education as a whole, paying attention to new tendencies in the field. We've paid attention to the motivational peculiarities of adults during the process of foreign language study, as there exists quite a narrow view on this aspect of education so far. The obtained results showed that many adults are not ready to change the already existing study clichés of language acquisition. The task of a pedagogue is to motivate an adult student to learn new information in another manner, which would bring him new knowledge corresponding to new demands of a modern society.
