Essential specificity and differentiation of psychological defense mechanisms of personality

Semantic essence and basic functions of psychological defence as a powerful method of maintenance personality of one's own self has been exposed in the article. Basic conceptual approaches in relation to understanding the specificity of psychological defence conduct of personality has been analysed. Differentiation of mechanisms of psychological defence of personality has been presented both in classic and in modern interpretations, the specificity of functional application of separate mechanisms of psychological defence has been reflected. The various mechanisms of psychological defence of personality, differential models, according to that both mechanisms and their functional semantics, which appears in perspective of our study have been examined. Psychological defence of personality as a difficult and ramified phenomenon has multilevel structural and functional organization. The mechanisms of psychological defence are able to protect and caution human consciousness from the destructive action of the negative experiencing and provide the subjective feeling of vital comfort. The existing anxiety, pessimism, depression, frustration and other depreciation states and factors strengthen conflictogenity and increase neuropsychic tension of personality, therefore psychological defence performs an extremely important stabilizing duty, the basic assignment of which is providing of basale human necessity by protection. Psychological defence plays an important role in the process of forming and improvement of personality and its various necessities. In most modern scientific conceptions to psychological defence is given the function of overcoming the feeling of insecurity, own inferiority, defence of the valued consciousness and support of stable self-appraisal. Psychological defence mechanisms are guarded by personality of realization of different sort of the negative emotional experiencing, assist of maintenance of psychological homoeostasis, stability, decision of intraindividual and interpersonal conflicts and run across on unconscious, subconscious and realized levels.
