A Word Search Puzzle Construction Algorithm

This paper presents a novel word-search puzzle construction algorithm. The proposed algorithm guarantees that it will place all the words of a set of words in the game board with the sole condition that there is at least one correct placement. Furthermore, it dramatically improves the construction average time compared to an exhaustive search algorithm. The algorithm may be used in various educational applications. Finally, it helps retain student interest in repetitive training with the same set of words by placing them in random positions.
