IMPACT OF INDUSTRIAL POLICY ON IT SECTOR IN UTTARAKHAND

Information Technology (IT) is an enabling industry that facilitates smooth connection across the state in various departments, enterprises, and families, resulting in increased productivity and efficiency across sectors; Government of Uttarakhand has drafted various industrial policies specifically catering to the needs of IT sector. Government of Uttarakhand has given information and communication technology (ICT) significant attention, and it has been given the status of an industry. Government is boasting well-developed Integrated Industrial Estates (IIEs), IT Parks, and growth centers in easily accessible regions including Haridwar, Pant Nagar, and Dehradun. The state government will build an additional IT park at Ram Nagar/Pant Nagar, in addition to the existing IT park in Dehradun. In this regard, the present study has been conducted to review the industrial policies of Uttarakhand since its inception and thereby assessing its impact on the growth of IT sector in Uttarakhand. The study will solely focus upon the industrial policies drafted by Government of Uttarakhand till date.
