Abstract

When it comes to structuring and laying out offshore wind turbine operations, an extensive amount of research and simulation becomes a necessity for constructing dependable and resilient turbine girds. Marine conditions are stimulated primarily based on diversity of loading stratites, the problem of stresses and load on anoffshore wind turbine farm has to consider in a stochastic manner the dynamic forces from wind as well as water waves.Wind turbine as an instrument is a dynamic system, where the dynamicity is the result of heavy rotational mass in its blades along with significant non linearities forming various kinds of static, periodic, and stochastic stresses. The dynamic nature of the forces involved combined with the magnitude of said forces can lead to fatigue in the turbinestructure, dramatically affecting the lifetime of wind turbine farms and hence present a challenge in terms of planning such setups. Aero-hydro-servo-elastic simulations are employed to assess the lifetime and limitations of a design in a comprehensiveapproach, exploring the combined effect of the forces on the wind turbine in the unforgiving marine conditions. In this paper a 5MW offshore design is put under a simulated investigation to understand the effectiveness of simulation insuch projects.
