Abstract

Purpose – Scholars have focused their attention on the unique idea of entrepreneurial-orientation (EO), that has grabbed their interest due to its importance to an organization's success. This work presents a broad-spectrum view of the structure of research in EO with publications in the previous five years that combine bibliometric and distance-based visualization-of-similarity (VOS) analyses to find the most prestigious journals, authors, and articles for readers in the field. Design– The article makes use of the Scopus Core-collection, and the VOS-viewer. All documents relating to EO that are currently in the database between 2017 and 2021 are scanned for the study. Graphical visualization integrates both bibliographic coupling and co-citation details in the presentation of the data. Findings – Fluid phase equilibria, journal of business research, and proceedings of the international society for optical engineering (SPIE) are the most relevant journals in the field. Among the many important authors in the EO literature, key contributors are Kraus, S.; Hernández-Perlines, F., and Coutinho, J.A.P. Three different streams of research are linked to the EO concept. The highly-rated stream is business, management, and accounting, and the secondly ranked subject area is Engineering, whereas Economics, Econometrics, and Finance are ranked third based on the current studied time frame. Research implications – This research provides EO researchers with a more complete and objective knowledge structure evolution framework for the last five years, which is beneficial to the maturation of the entrepreneurship-oriented area. Originality/value – By combining bibliometric data with graphical networks, this article contributes to EO research by offering a worldwide picture of the concept's analysis covered in the studied duration.
