Atatürk Dönemi Türkiye Ekonomisi

Turkish Republic inherited an economic structure with primitive agriculture, insufficient transportation system and low level of qualified human resources from Ottoman Empire. In 1923 izmir Economy Congress the new Republics economic prevalence, precautions and models to be followed had been decided. Leading role given to the private sector according to the Congress. Due to negative conditions of that period expected progress in the economy had not been reached. Consequently etatism in economy adopted as the new model by 1930. With this model economic progress has accelerated. Turkey became one of the most rapid industrialized countries in that period. This development has interrupted by the II. World War. As a result the Atatiirk period was the most successful period of Turkish economy with zero inflation and steady growth rate.
