Abstract
Political relations between Turkey and Iran were tense during the period between the proclamation of the Turkish Republic up to 1926. However, the Turkish-Iranian Friendship and Security Agreement of 1926 was the first step towards a closer and benevolent relationship between the two countries. Thus the historical peak point of bilateral reapproachment was the visit of Riza Han to Turkey in 1934. The importance of this visit for Iran lies in the implementation of the advantages of the Turkish revolution in Iran. From this vantage point, that visit was the importation of the Turkish revolution into Iran, whereas for Turkey it gave a chance to export its revolutionary model. However, we shall underline in this paper that this visit was important for both countries in terms of coming closer and strengthening friendly relations.
