Individual-psychological properties of personality as a predictor of professionalization

Abstract

The article presents the results of a comparative analysis of professionally important properties of specialists at the training stage and professionals. The interrelation of the personality type indicator, volitional properties and decisiveness of the personality is shown, their psychological features in the actual self-realization of the personality are revealed. The studies of domestic and foreign scientists on the problem of professional self-realization and approaches to its study are analyzed. The author considers some issues of professional self-realization and carries out the analysis of the features of individual's self-realization in various specializations of the profession studied. It is assumed that the characteristics of will, decisiveness and an indicator of personality type ensure the success of a professional in the implementation of sociotechnical activity. The presence of verified, statistically significant differences according to Student's t-test of volitional properties, decisiveness and personality type indicator in beginners and experienced specialists is shown. With the help of experts, the composition of professionally significant qualities that differ among specialists of different specializations was determined. It can be considered that the personality type indicator in combination with professionally important qualities ensures the self-realization of a professional, effective professional activity and, in general, the professionalization of personality. For empirical research, a psychodiagnostic complex was specially designed, it consisted of: «Personality Type Indicator» (MBTI) by K. Briggs and I. Myers; methods «Volitional properties of personality» (VPP) by M. Chumakov; procedures «Multi-Dimensional Scales of Decisiveness» (MSD) by A. Sannikov; «Personality Questionnaire» (5FL) by R. McCrae and P. Costa, adapted by A. B. Khromov. Statistical data processing was carried out using the computer program SPSS 13.0 for Windows. Quantitative (correlation, regression) and qualitative (aces method and profile method) data analyzes were used. Statistically significant relationships between indicators of decisiveness, volitional properties and indicators of personality type were revealed. A description of the psychological characteristics of decisiveness and volitional personality traits in people of various specializations in the basic profession is provided. Comparison of volitional properties in individuals of different specialties showed: ship mechanics revealed decisiveness and endurance; the navigators revealed determination, responsibility and perseverance
