Abstract

The objective of this research is to study the essence and characteristic features of the digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) as well as specific problematic issues arising during the business processes reorganization in SME aiming to change their activity to new digital business models. The general scientific theoretical methods of research were applied, such as induction and generalization An analysis of the published results of empirical data was carried out. Results. The main obstacles in the field of SME's digitalization have been revealed. The most likely risk factors that complicate the transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises in accordance with the requirements and standards of the «digital» world have been identified. Conclusions. Ways to solve some problematic issues have been indicated and the key importance of the company's digital transformation as a factor in increasing the competitiveness and performance of the enterprise has been emphasized. The rationale for the need to form and apply a digital strategy as a prerequisite for the relevant implementation of the company's expectations and strategic goals as a result of its digital transformation is presented.
