Abstract

The article examines the factors affecting the competitiveness of the agricultural sector of the national economy, outlines the sectoral structure of the agro-industrial complex, and gives the main factors that determine the competitive position of the agro-industrial complex. The sectoral structure of the agro-industrial complex is considered. The main link of the agro-industrial complex is agriculture, which includes plant and animal husbandry and creates a raw material base for the processing industry. The second link is the industries that produce means of production and serve the agro-industrial complex: agricultural engineering, chemical industry, compound feed and microbiological industry, production of containers, special equipment, and devices for the agro-industrial complex, scientific service, agricultural, and reclamation construction. The third link of the agro-industrial complex is the industries dealing with the storage, processing, and sale of agricultural products; they include enterprises in the light and food industries, warehouses, vehicles, and trade. The competitiveness of the agricultural sector is determined by the presence of competitive enterprises. The basis of the competitive advantages of any enterprise is the competitiveness of its production, technological and financial potential, management system, and marketing policy. The enterprise's marketing policy is determined by the main characteristics of the market itself, its type and capacity, and the presence of competitors. The factors that determine the competitive position of the agro-industrial complex are clarified, namely: economic and geographical position; raw resources; demographic resources; labor resources; production potential; financial resources. Ukraine, as a small, open national economy belonging to the markets of the emerging global system of financial and trade relations, actively comes into contact with the subjects of this system. Naturally, any country that comes into contact with the outside world must determine its place and try to improve its position. Achieving a high level of competitiveness in the modern world and national economy is only possible in a country with a high level of human capital and, thus, employment and population well-being. The development of the domestic agro-industrial complex and its transformation into a highly efficient and highly profitable sector of the economy are the main factors in ensuring the country's food security and affect the interests of the entire economic system of the state.
