Evolution of the institution of a witness and testimonies in domestic and foreign criminal proceedings

This article presents the main stages in the development of the institution of a witness and testimonies in Russia, as well as an assessment of the correspondence and differences to the modern Anglo-American criminal process, the problems of testimonies as a source of evidence in criminal proceedings are identified.
