LEADERSHIP STYLES AND EMPLOYEE PRODUCTIVITY OF DEPOSIT MONEY BANKS IN RIVERS STATE

Abstract
The study investigated leadership styles and employee productivity of deposit money banks in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The questionnaire was deployed to three hundred and forty (340) respondents and received three hundred and twenty-one (321) valid responses. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS V. 21). The result of the descriptive and Spearman Rank Correlation Coefficient indicate that transformational leadership style is the most predominant leadership styles. The study concludes that leadership styles significantly influence employee productivity. The study thus recommends that transformational and transactional leadership styles should be encouraged fully in the banking industry, so as to boost employee productivity.
