Abstract

The term "digital humanities" describes a variety of new media applications that come together at the nexus of technological advancement and scholarly inquiry in the humanities. It expresses the function of information technology in humanities research and is an ongoing idea. Based on an interviewing technique, this research interprets the idea by eliciting a group of humanities professors' various viewpoints, which yet exhibit a number of recognisable motifs. Using Bijker's (1995) concept of a technological frame, it synthesises the many views and presumptions that these humanists have concerning technology for communication and information (ICTs). The use of electronic media as a tool for academic exchange, as a platform for creative expression, as well as a setting for critical analyses of digital culture are three viewpoints that are utilised to define the digital humanities area. Although technology is often credited with driving scholarly innovation, the article's conclusion asserts that it is now more important than ever to understand the cultural, social, and political implications of new media as well as how humanities scholars approach and make use of them.
