Abstract
This project examined the cultural, aesthetic, & contextual aspects that shape and co-generate digital humanities approaches to under-researched foreign communities, drawing on long-term ethnographic encounters in the far-flung Global South. One goal of the study was to work together with participants to design a digital space that was relevant and welcome from a cultural perspective. In contrast, this study relied on community-generated imageries or multimedia (audio, pictures, and audio-visual) to broaden the app's appeal and make it more accessible for people with different types of sensory and learning profiles. In addition, the application development effort prioritised multicultural, local-centric, community-driven co-design components to ensure the approach would be firmly rooted in society and last for the long haul.
