Abstract

Metal matrix composites have emerged in part because their potentials and limits have been better understood because to advances in the science of process, physical metallurgy principles, and interfacial chemistry. Reinforcing material, such as particles of graphite, may be added to the stirred molten metal to facilitate their production using standard casting techniques. After the combination has been refined, it is cast into a long-lasting mold. A particular chemical activation was performed on the molten aluminum alloy wetting the graphite, allowing for the production of aluminum graphite composites with graphite concentrations varying from zero to twenty percent. The mechanical characteristics of the reinforced metallic matrix are discussed, with an emphasis on how the presence of reinforcement affects these qualities. The inclusion of graphite (fiber) in this composite reduces its wear rate.
