Abstract
Lung cancer is one of the most lethal forms of the disease and accounts for a significant portion of cancer-related deaths globally. It is critical to detect lung cancer at an early stage in order to improve patient outcomes and bring down mortality rates. In recent years, developments in image processing methods and machine learning algorithms have led to the development of a potentially useful tool for the identification of lung cancer. In this study report, an examination is made of the application of image processing and machine learning techniques to assist in the identification and diagnosis of lung cancer. The study presents a description of the body of research, discusses a variety of image processing methods, explains the purpose of machine learning algorithms, and analyses the challenges faced by this field of research as well as the possible opportunities that lie within it.
