Abstract

Introduction. The article is dedicated to exploring the historical and pedagogical aspects of developing cultural competence in primary students. The concept of cultural competence and its role in modern education are examined in the article. An attempt is made to analyse the historical context of education development in Ukraine and to identify key trends in its development. The article also discusses the main pedagogical theories that form the basis of modern education and the formation of cultural competence in students. The focus of the article is on analysing various methods of developing cultural competence in primary students, including the importance of using interactive methods, technologies, and other innovative approaches in the learning process. Purpose. The article aims to study the role of historical experience in developing cultural competence in primary students and to determine the influence of cultural traditions on educational programs and practices. The article aims to analyse the historical context that contributed to the development of cultural competence in primary students, taking into account cultural, social, and political transformations. The achievement of article's goal is intended to provide an understanding of how historical events, cultural traditions, and artistic forms influenced the formation of cultural competence in primary students. Methods. The following methods were used: analytical method – to study the historical and pedagogical aspects of developing cultural competence in primary students to understand the influence of historical experience on modern education; comparative method – to compare pedagogical approaches and methods that were used in different periods in developing cultural competence in elementary school students; literary analysis – to study theoretical approaches to developing cultural competence in primary students and to compare them with practical experience. Results. The main results of the research include: identifying the role of historical experience in developing cultural competence in primary students; studying the historical context that contributed to the development of cultural competence in primary students, taking into account cultural, social, and political transformations; understanding how historical events and cultural traditions have influenced the development of cultural competence in primary students. Originality. The scientific novelty of the research results lies in the fact that the article provides a comprehensive analysis of the historical and pedagogical aspects of the formation of cultural competence in primary students. In addition, the influence of cultural, social, and political transformations on this process is taken into account. The research results indicate that historical experience is of great importance for the formation of cultural competence in primary students, as it provides an opportunity to understand cultural traditions and values that shape cultural identity. Moreover, the research results make it possible to compare pedagogical approaches and methods that were used in different periods for the formation of cultural competence in primary students. This can be useful for developing effective pedagogical strategies and methods for the formation of cultural competence in primary students in modern conditions. Conclusion. The historical and pedagogical foundations of developing cultural competence in primary students can be examined in the context of societal and educational development. On the one hand, changes in socio- economic conditions and increased intercultural interaction have led to the need to develop children's skills and abilities for effective intercultural communication and collaboration.
