Abstract

The article attempts to study the socio-economic development of the Novo-Ushytskyi district of Podillia province in the post-reform period, from 1862 to 1872. This period in the history of Ukraine has, in our opinion, been studied superficially and in a generalized way. Much needs to be clarified and reconsidered. The Leninist view of the development of capitalism on the territory of Right Sector Ukraine should be replaced by an alternative one. In order to see the changes, we carefully studied the level of development of agricultural, factory and small-scale production in the Novo-Ushytske district. We also analysed the demographic situation in the region and its social structure. The results confirmed that there were no dramatic changes in the economic and social environment. The feudal environment continued to exist, which began to change under the influence of the reform.
