Abstract

Our study of families raising children with disabilities has shown the relevance of psychological support for parents, who are the main factors in the psycho-emotional state of a child with disabilities, their motivation for development, attitude to others, and coping with problems. In addition, psychological support for parents of children with disabilities, through the use of certain methods, helps parents deal with several other problems, fight for the right to exist and a decent life for their child with the assistance of public and state centers, and adapt to society. The technological aspect of psychological support for families raising children with disabilities includes forms, methods, and tools. The main forms of psychological support for parents include cognitive activity; activation of psycho-emotional activity; organized leisure activities; creation of visual materials to help with task performance; occupational therapy as a factor in the development of fine motor skills, logic, and a number of cognitive skills to holistically coordinate psycho-emotional processes. The study focused on those risk factors that negatively affect and provoke stressful situations, depression, or aggression in the parties involved in psychological support. The study revealed those aspects of the problems that are not usually disclosed in families with people who have special psycho-emotional needs as a result of intellectual disabilities. Thus, many relatives are ashamed to accept help, to accept disability, and to recognize the need for disabled people's development. The article analyzes and explores methodological approaches to determining the needs and identifying the capabilities of those who will provide psychological support, and suggests methodological techniques for developing relationships in families. The influence of the proposed methods, pieces of training, tests, and situational tasks by a psychologist on the effectiveness of psychological support for development has been analyzed. In the research, the author emphasizes the most effective methods that will practically contribute to the development of interaction in families with disabled children.
