Abstract

Historical science is often viewed by people as a collection of dates. The average person often ignores the reasons for the occurrence of a particular historical process. And this, in my opinion, is the most important part necessary to understand the essence of the event. It is especially important to understand what was the reason for taking a particular action. One of the theories that can explain the reasons that motivate peoples to take actions is the passionary theory of ethnogenesis by Lev Gumilyov, which puts the vital energy of an ethnos at the basis of ethnic processes, considers the reasons for the emergence of this energy and the reasons for its extinction. This article examines the history of the Belarusian people through the prism of this theory.
