The Role of Social Media in Forming the Value System for Secondary Stage Students in Jordan from Teachers Perspectives

Abstract

This study aims at explaining the role of social media in formulating secondary school students' value system in accordance with teachers' prespectives which differ depending on various variables like gender, educational qualifications, and years of experience. The sample of the study consisted of (292) public secondary schools teachers at Qwayysmah District, who are chosen randomly. The study has been conducted by utilizing the descriptive approach using a questionnaire constructed by the researcher and distributed in three major domains: moral and religious, social, and aesthetic values. The results of the study show that the role of social media in the formulation of secondary school students' value system came in a moderate level. It also shows a statistically significant differences depending on the gender variable for the male teachers as well as the variable years of experience for teacher of lower than (5) years of experience. On the other hand, no statistically significant differences is found due to educational qualification. The study recommends giving thoughtful and close attention to promoting the religious and moral values throughout appending new content curriculum that focuses on these values.
