Abstract

Uterine leiomyoma is a benign neoplasm located in the wall of an organ and consisting mainly of fibers of smooth muscle tissue. This is how it differs from fibroma, which is based on scar (fibrous) fibers. Leiomyoma is one of the most common gynecological diseases, reaching a frequency of 12-25% of all gynecological diseases. It occurs mainly in women of reproductive age, and after menopause. Muscle formations, as a rule, are formed in the body of the uterus, and only occasionally in its neck. Although fibroids belong to tumors, the risk of their degeneration into a malignant form is extremely low. According to observations, the probability is less than 1%. Surgical removal of nodes has been used for the treatment of uterine fibroids for many decades. Currently, effective conservative treatment regimens have been developed for various groups of drugs, among which are selective progesterone receptor modulators, the therapeutic effect and features of which I will consider in this article.
