FACILITATING LEADERSHIP AS A FACTOR OF A GENERAL SECONDARY EDUCATION INSTITUTION HEAD'S ACTIVITY

Abstract

Introduction. The article examines the factors influencing the role of a general secondary education institution head as a facilitative leader. Modern education requires the involvement of not individual teachers- facilitators, but the transition to the formation of pedagogical collectives-teams, headed by the administration, which manages the educational process on the basis of facilitation. Purpose. The aim of the article is to identify the characteristics of facilitative leadership in the context of a general secondary education institution head. Methods. Pedagogical and educational literature analysis, along with the use of induction and deduction. Results. The article highlights that contemporary educational reforms advocate for more progressive leadership approaches for general secondary education institutions heads. These approaches underscore specific administrative functions such as cultural and transformational leadership. Facilitative leadership, among these styles, places significant emphasis on collaboration, conceptualization, coordination, and participation, thereby empowering school leaders to positively influence the educational environment for both educators and students. A team led by facilitative heads, characterized by shared vision, cooperative problem-solving in a safe environment, can enhance the educational experience for students. This approach leads to increased motivation, engagement, and satisfaction among team members, as they feel valued and invested in the outcomes. Originality. The advantages of facilitative leadership as a style of a general secondary education institution head's activity o for effective cooperation with the team and promotion of professional growth of each team member are revealed. Conclusion. It can be concluded that the factors of a general secondary education institution head's activity as a facilitating leader, which include the main functions of the head-facilitator; his most important facilitating qualities and competencies; the role in the management of an educational institution on the basis of facilitation is an important aspect of the review of key changes in the field of Ukrainian education. A separate aspect of further scientific investigations can be the creation of organizational and pedagogical conditions for the facilitation of a general secondary education institutions head's activities.
