MULTIMEDIA TECHNOLOGIES AS A MEANS OF FORMING CIVIC COMPETENCE OF PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

Abstract

Introduction. The processes of establishing statehood in Ukraine, the revival of civil society, the integration of the country into the world and European community also require orientation towards the personality of a new generation, capable of facing such urgent socio-economic and military-political challenges as the features of wartime and the transition of our country from the paradigm of «survive and endure» to the paradigm «live and recover». In this connection, Ukraine faces a number of difficult mental, spiritual, worldview problems, in particular, the formation of a real civil society. Without a high level of civic competence, every achievement of this goal is impossible.The purpose to theoretically substantiate the essence and role of multimedia technologies in the formation of civic competence of primary school students. Methods. It has been used the research methods: studying regulatory documents and works on topical problems of primary education, analysis, synthesis of philosophical, psychological and pedagogical, methodological literature on the problem; comparison, systematization of theoretical and practical experience. Originality. The essence, content and signs of civic competence of primary school students are revealed. The content of the civic and historical educational field, which serve as the basis for the formation of this quality, is analyzed. The role of multimedia technologies in the formation of civic competence of primary school students is characterized.Results. The formation of civic competence is served by the content of the civic and historical educational field, during the study of which the formation of civic and other competences, the awareness of one's own identity and the formation of readiness for changes through the understanding of the connections between history and current life take place. Civic competence involves the formation of an active civic position based on democracy, respect for human rights and freedoms, tolerant attitude towards others, experience of coexistence in society.Conclusions. Thus, multimedia learning technologies are promising and highly effective tools that allow the teacher to present a mass of information in a larger volume than traditional sources of information; visually in an integrated form include not only text, graphics, diagrams, but also sound, animation, video, etc.; select types of information in the sequence that corresponds to the logic of cognition and the level of perception of a specific contingent of primary education students. The development and implementation of multimedia technologies provides a wide opportunity for inventing new ways of forming the civic competence of elementary school students, thereby increasing the quality and efficiency of the educational process. Thanks to the use of multimedia technologies within the framework of the formation of the civic competence of students, visibility in education increases, the emotional impact is strengthened, there is an intensification of educational activities with increased attention, better memorization, perception, and therefore, the process of forming the identity of a citizen of Ukraine, his active civic position on the basis democracy, patriotism, respect for human rights and freedoms, recognition of the value of the rule of law and intolerance of corruption takes place more effectively.
