Abstract
The relevance of the study is determined by the continued interest of the humanities in studying various types of media texts with certain communicative and pragmatic tasks. The headlines of the newspaper “The East-Siberian Pravda” have been studied for the first time. The validity of the research results is provided by the analysis of language material in the volume of 262 newspaper headlines from the newspaper “The East-Siberian Pravda” for January-June 2022. This newspaper is a high-quality authoritative publication, the target audience for which are the residents of the Irkutsk region. The aim of the work is to describe and systematise the headlines of modern journalistic texts and to identify their functional potential. The main research methods used were: the method of solid sampling, interpretative analysis, contextual analysis, quantitative method, the method of systematisation and classification of the material under study, descriptive-analytical method.
