Abstract

The purpose of this research is to evaluate the text production skills of Turkish teacher candidates through the texts they produced with the training-completion technique in the writing education course. For this purpose, teacher candidates studying in Turkish language teaching were given listening-monitoring based text creation exercises in the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 academic years. Qualitative research method and document review technique were used in this research. The produced texts were separated according to their genres and 15 texts were determined by random sampling on the basis of genre as the working documents to be examined. The determined texts were examined with the descriptive analysis technique. As a result of the examination, it was seen that the teacher candidates produced 10 different types of texts with the yetizleme (cultivation-completion) study. It has been evaluated that approximately 80% of the produced texts (68 out of 87 texts) are concentrated in the form of conversation, story, poem and essay, and this is a suitable choice in terms of content that will integrate with the speeches of the participants in the source material. As a result of the examination, it was seen that the texts produced according to the general average of the participant scores (91,46) were at a very good level in terms of the elements that make up the text. It is stated that the teaching (cultivation-completion) technique of the texts is appropriate at the level of "Very good" according to the criteria of the subject, content, text type and the preferred expression style to the text type. However, it was observed that the content feature stated as "only the analyzed text - or source material - should be enriched without staying in its frame and supported by other data" remained the lowest in the rating range. However, it has been observed that the content feature specified in the form is the lowest in the rating range “only the examined text -or source material- is enriched without being framed and supported by other data”. According to the Written Expression Scoring Key criteria of the texts produced by the pre-service teachers, the overall average of the participant scores is 93.86. It has been concluded that the produced texts are generally qualified and sufficient.
