USING GAMES IN DEVELOPING SPEAKING SKILLS OF LANGUAGE STUDENTS

Abstract
The article covers the usage of game technologies in teaching speaking to the students of language faculties. The relevance of the topic is conditioned by the lack of literature on the use of game technologies in teaching speaking to this target group. The aim is to design game technologies for teaching speaking to undergraduate students of language faculties. The research methods include the analysis of literary sources, the study and generalisation of data, a pedagogical experiment. The study allowed to create and test the board game “Numbers in Colours” based on the topic “Medicine” for the second-year students of the training programme 44.03.01 Pedagogical Education: Foreign Languages. The main goal of the game – development of speaking skills in English with the help of topical vocabulary was achieved. The game made the learning process interesting and interactive, in addition to the already studied vocabulary the students also learned some new words on the topic.
