Abstract

The oil and gas industry is an international and multi million dollar industry today. As a result of this, the oil and gas industry remains a target of attacks by terrorists, insider attack sabotage, cyber attack, attack of oil rigs, installations and facilities and its workforce. To this end, the oil and gas industry must rise up to these challenges to ensure and enhance security and safety of its staff, customers and facilities for smooth daily operations. The security department must be manned by skilled and experienced security personnel, who should be regularly trained and retrained to always keep abreast of modern security techniques. Security is everybody's business, every staff of the organization without exception must be security conscious. This paper looks into security in the oil and gas industry, its vulnerability, challenges, prospects, and the way forward in providing adequate security. Paul A. Adekunte | Matthew N. O.
