Abstract

Introduction. In modern conditions, the development of society is closely related to the digital transformation of all spheres of human activity. At the same time, the sphere of justice deserves special attention, which has also been noticeably modernized in accordance with today's requirements, because it is impossible to imagine it without the use of the latest information and telecommunication tools. It is worth noting that today in the European Union, the functioning of electronic justice is regulated in the legal field of each of its participating countries. However, the level of implementation of information and telecommunication technologies in the countries of the European Union is quite different. In fact, it is not only about the equipment of the premises for conducting court sessions in the mode of video conferencing, but also about providing the opportunity to administer justice using the latest digital developments. Therefore, the constant modernization of the functioning of e-justice requires updating the legal framework in accordance with the conditions of digital transformation. However, the number of legal acts that form the basis for the legal regulation of e-justice in the European Union needs to be systematized. This necessitates a comprehensive analysis of the current state of legal and regulatory support for the functioning of the European Union's justice system in the context of digital transformation. Purpose. The purpose of the study is to analyze the current state of regulatory and legal support for the digital transformation of the justice system in the European Union. Materials and methods. The research materials are: 1) works of scholars and other publications analyzing the issues of digital transformation of the justice system, in particular the functioning of e-justice, in modern conditions; 2) European regulations that ensure the digital transformation of the justice system in the European Union. In the course of the study, the following methods were used: generalization and grouping (to identify the legal acts which form the basis of the legal framework for the digital transformation of the justice system in the European Union and to divide them into groups and levels); analysis and synthesis (to build a structure of the legal framework for the digital transformation of the justice system in European realities); summarization (to formulate the conclusions of the study). Results. The scientific article clarified the understanding of digital transformation and its importance for the justice system.
