Abstract
A morpheme is a minimal significant unit of language that has meaning and can be used in the communication process. The article examines the morpheme as the main structural unit of the language, its role, functions and relationship with other levels of the language. The types of morphemes (root, affixal), their syntactic and semantic functions, as well as the influence of morphemes on the formation of words and their grammatical meaning are analyzed. Attention is paid to the interaction of morphemes with other language levels, such as phonology, syntax and semantics, as well as their role in shaping the structure of the sentence and the text as a whole.
