Abstract
Cognitive linguistics scholars contend that the underlying principle is the link between language and cognition. Cognitive linguistics is now studying the relationship between language and consciousness, the function of speech and thought in conceptualizing and cognizing the world, and the relationship between human cognitive capacities and language. The concepts of "concept" and "discourse" influence the character of modern linguistics, including cognitive linguistics. The study of discourse as an abstract model of language activity is a useful tool for discovering high-level notions that reflect knowledge about the world and language in consciousness.
