Abstract
The approach of cognitive stylistics is distinctive in that it bases linguistic analyses in a systemic framework on ideas that relate linguistic decisions to cognitive processes and structures. A branch of linguistics called cognitive stylistics examines how language interacts with mental functions as perception, understanding, memory, and thought. It seeks to determine the ways in which cognitive processes impact linguistic phenomena as metonymy, metaphor usage, text structure, and device selection.
