Abstract
This review considers the book by M.V. Akulich, devoted to one of the most understudied topics – the history of Jewish pirates. The authors of the review came to the conclusion that this book not only didn't bring anything new and valuable to historiography, but on the contrary contributed to the distortion of piracy history. The book contains no scientific value. It not only contains errors, inaccuracies, etc., but it is largely made up of them. As a result, the authors say that people have a vivid example presented of how not to write books.
